Undergrad collection: Apothecaria
Artist Statement
Apothecaria is a contemporary jewellery collection that expresses the healing power of nature through wearable forms. Informed by personal experiences of chronic illness and the use of alternative medicines, the work promotes practices of care, wellbeing, and resilience, and celebrates those who take charge of managing their own health.
Drawing from tea rituals and somatic practices, the collection reflects ideas of mental grounding, self-attunement, and the connection between body and mind. Each element is derived from rosemary, a herb long associated with memory, clarity, and healing, translated into hand-fabricated pieces within a fine jewellery context where values of uniformity, movement, and considered connection are central. In parallel, a more theatrical body of work using home-developed bio-leather introduces scent as a material element, using principles of aromatherapy to engage the senses more intimately.
Bridging ancient traditions with contemporary practice, the work transforms rituals of healing and plant-based remedies into objects of adornment that embody care, connection, and wellbeing.
